A era de ouro dos clipes ainda não acabou, mas o que temos nas mãos é uma das listas de indicados mais fracas da história dos Video Music Awards, maior premiação do mundo dos videoclipes, organizada pela MTV norte-americana. Hits do verão como Somebody that I used to know e Call me maybe ganharam espaço, enquanto Drake assumiu a posição de protagonista da premiação e o ressurgimento das boy bands dominou a categoria de revelação.
